Project Engineering Manager / PDA

About the role

Hitachi Rail GTS Egypt is looking for a Project Engineering Manager (PDA) based in Cairo. The role carries technical authority for railway project engineering decisions and covers system design, integration, safety assurance and commissioning of railway projects.

Key responsibilities

• Accountable technical authority for railway project engineering decisions
• Ensure compliance with ENR standards, international standards (EN 50126/50128/50129, IEC, ISO) and Hitachi Rail processes
• Contribute to system architecture and design baselines, and ensure integration across signalling, telecom, power and rolling stock interfaces
• Manage interfaces with legacy railway infrastructure and support safety assurance, including hazard analysis and safety case development
• Coordinate with Independent Safety Assessors (ISA) and ENR authorities, and act as technical interface with client and stakeholders
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, support engineering changes, and manage site engineering, testing and commissioning
• Deliver system design documentation, take part in design reviews (PDR, CDR, IDR), support safety and compliance documentation, and prepare Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
• Produce technical risk registers, track mitigations and contribute to ENR technical approvals

Required profile

• University degree in Electrical, Electronics, Systems or Railway Engineering
• 10+ years of experience designing and implementing railway signalling projects
• 5+ years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Strong oral and written English; Spanish is a plus
• Experience delivering more than one railway signalling project, including system design, integration and acceptance
• Experience with complex safety-critical railway systems across full software and hardware development life cycles
• ETCS L1 experience is a plus
