Shift Engineer - Hotel Maintenance

About the role

Marriott Hotels & Resorts is hiring a Shift Engineer in Cairo to handle guest repair requests and keep the property running smoothly. The engineer responds to maintenance issues raised by guests, carries out preventive maintenance and basic repairs, and keeps the other shifts informed of daily problems.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve guest repair requests and communicate with guests about maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines.
• Identify, locate and operate shut-off valves and utility shut-offs, and use the Lockout/Tagout system before any maintenance work.
• Maintain maintenance inventory, requisition parts and supplies, and test, troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing, electrical components and guestroom items.
• Carry out surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and replace light bulbs and A/C filters.
• Program TVs, perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties, and perform landscaping and sprinkler repairs.
• Enter air handler schedules and make temperature changes on a computer, and communicate each day's activities and problems to other shifts.
• Follow company and safety policies, report hazards and accidents, complete safety training, and treat guests courteously.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation and painting.
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is a plus.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Driver's license.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge or ability to learn air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and building systems.
• Basic computer skills, including inputting air handler schedules and changing temperatures.
