Category Buyer – Indirect Procurement Lead

About the role

The Category Buyer (Indirect) will support one or several procurement categories for Hitachi Rail in Cairo. Working closely with Global Category Managers, the Category Team Leader and Tactical Buyers, you will drive the end‑to‑end RFI/RFP process and ensure competitive, compliant sourcing.

Key responsibilities

• Manage RFI/RFP processes up to PVet 4/5, delivering complete specifications to the business.
• Provide operational support to Business Areas to ensure all required information is available for procurement orders.
• Monitor market trends, key players and regulatory changes to keep category strategies up‑to‑date.
• Apply governance using KPIs and corrective actions, ensuring fair supplier competitions.
• Oversee supplier performance, enforce global contracts/framework agreements, and promote full use of e‑Acquisition tools.
• Identify suppliers needing development and coordinate with the Supplier Development Team.

Required profile

• 8 + years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in procurement.
• Proven track record in negotiation projects or category management.
• Strong understanding of market dynamics and customer program requirements.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally in an international, multi‑organizational environment.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of framework agreements, liability and insurance clauses.
• Expertise in leading negotiations, including import/export considerations.
• Market analysis and competitive intelligence capabilities.
• Solid grasp of best‑practice acquisition processes.
