General Accountant

About the role

Chalhoub Group, a luxury retailer with over 10 owned brands and more than 950 stores across the Middle East, is hiring a General Accountant in Nasr City. The role supports day-to-day general accounting operations, keeping financial records, the general ledger and financial reports accurate and complete.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and accounting records, and prepare and post journal entries including accruals, provisions, prepayments and routine adjustments.
• Perform regular account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and resolve outstanding items promptly.
• Support Accounts Payable: review supplier invoices, reconcile supplier statements and monitor outstanding balances.
• Manage and reconcile prepaid expenses and other balance sheet accounts.
• Take part in month-end closing and book closure, and assist in preparing financial reports, account schedules and supporting documentation.
• Perform basic financial analysis and investigate unusual account balances.
• Apply IFRS standards, coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders, and support internal and external audits.
• Use ERP systems to process accounting transactions and maintain financial data.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 1-3 years of general accounting experience.
• Good command of English, able to write business correspondence and communicate clearly.
• Strong analytical skills, numerical accuracy, attention to detail and good organisational skills to meet month-end deadlines.

Required skills

• Understanding of the accounting cycle, journal entries, accruals, provisions, prepayments, general ledger maintenance and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with IFRS standards.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems; SAP experience is a strong advantage.
