Director of Human Resources – Egypt

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a senior HR leader to head the Human Resources function for its Egypt Country Office. Reporting to the Country Director and working closely with the Regional HR Business Partner, the Director will ensure HR services are delivered effectively across humanitarian and development programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic HR leadership as a member of the Senior Management Team, shaping organisational culture and performance.
• Ensure compliance with Save the Children global standards, national legislation and the country HR framework.
• Oversee the HR manual, policies and procedures, continuously improving them and advising managers on interpretation.
• Lead workforce planning, rightsizing and talent acquisition to align staffing with programme needs and funding.
• Maintain strong relationships with government authorities and external partners.
• Support rapid scale‑up and emergency staffing through robust HR systems.
• Champion staff wellbeing, including mental health and psychosocial support initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior HR management, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven ability to lead and develop HR teams, including officers, managers and payroll specialists.
• Deep knowledge of Egyptian labour law and international HR best practices.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
• Right to work in Egypt for the contract duration.

• Strong understanding of HR information systems and emergency staffing processes.
• Experience managing employee wellbeing programmes.
